It was only when the band embarked on the Organisation tour in the winter months of that the more familiar drum machine rhythms were reintroduced into the live version. When the compilation album The OMD Singles was being assembled in the latter end of the s, a series of remixes were commissioned from a broad variety of musicians and producers. The original idea was for the album to feature one disc of original versions and another featuring the various remixes.
One of the commissioned remixes was the work of SASH! This version, which boasts more of an EDM approach, also includes various samples culled from a documentary on the Enola Gay mission. This mix comes in several flavours — a 5. At the same time, they commissioned new remixes for the album, which included this contemporary Enola Gay (Live) - Various - URGH! A Music War by DJ and producer team David Guetta and Joachim Garraud.

It's an amazing document about what "rock music" was like around This is the rise of New Wave! It's amazing to think that in the new musical sensations were these bands, and even more to think some of them are still considered avantgarde and innovative: Devo, for example, will play some reunion gigs in festivals this summer!

The song is named after the Enola Gaythe USAAF B Superfortress bomber that carried Little Boythe first atomic bomb to be used in an act of war, dropped on the Japanese city of Hiroshima on 6 Augustkilling more thanof its citizens. The name of the bomber itself was chosen by its pilot, Colonel Paul Tibbetswho named it after his mother, Enola Gay Tibbets —who had been named after the heroine of the novel Enola; or, Her fatal mistake. The lyrics to the song reflect on the decision to use the bomb and ask the listener to consider whether the bombings were necessary "It shouldn't ever have to end this way".
